Description : The name of the area is derived from the cave which lead to the New Fortress. The beach its self is very small not particularly friendly or appealing but its location attracts many visitors and a few local who are looking for a quick dip to cool off between sigh seeing and shopping. A unique feature here is the tiny Church of the Blessed Virgin of Spiliotissa which was built to house one of the two stone icons of the Virgin Marry found here.
One thing you need to be aware of are the waves created by passing ships. The waves are not very big or pose any significant dangers but its common to see people rushing to rescue clothing, towels and bags from getting soaked. You have been warned.
